I had been looking for something more modern and came across this light via google , they showed that Dunelm had this light and so much cheaper than other places , I bought as I wanted something new for the front of the house . It was easy to install as had pre existing electrics done and it looks gorgeous , modern gives great illumination and is LED so economical too , every one comments on it and I have bought another one for the other side of the door . Modern light looks so classy

The light itself is great. I wanted something different from the current trend of up/down lighters that illuminate the wall but not much else. Also, coach lamps and the like are a bit 80’s and this is what I was replacing, so this seemed perfect.
The problem began on opening the box and viewing the installation instructions. It is designed for locations where the cable comes straight out of the wall and into the centre of the unit. My situation was surface mounted cables that fed the old lights and this light does not accommodate that.
After some head scratching I came up with a solution that necessitated making backing plates from Upvc facia board that I cut down to slightly larger than the mounting box. A hole drilled through the centre and a channel recessed into the back allowed my cable to run behind the plate and exit through the mounting bracket, see photo.
The next problem was that the bracket upper fixing screw would then go straight through the cable. This I overcame by making an offset bracket to screw into the wall – yes, it is from a floppy disc, if you’re old enough to remember those. However, any flat piece of metal would do the job allowing for the fixing screw to be moved away from the cable.
It should also be borne in mind the weight of these, they are made from steel, and trying to hold the unit whilst connecting the wiring really requires two people. This I overcame by threading string through the mounting bracket and tying it round the light to take the weight, leaving me two hands free.
As to the lights performance, brilliant. I have two of these, one on the front of the house and one in an open porch. Together they illuminate our driveway and path out to the road, being an area around 8m wide by 6m deep.
